My name is Heather Bisca and I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing virtual mental health care to teens and adults across Pennsylvania. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Holy Family University. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Walden University, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, and have over 15 years of experience in a variety of psychiatric settings, including emergency departments, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric units, detox/rehab centers, and private psychiatric practices.
WHAT IS YOUR PRACTICE SPECIALTY?
I specialize in medication management combined with psychotherapy treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, insomnia, PTSD, ADHD, and much more. I combine clinical experience with real-life understanding. My approach is down-to-earth and practical. I like to keep things honest and comfortable; no judgment, no pressure—just a space where you can speak freely.
WHAT LED YOU TO BECOME A PMHNP-BC?
My path to becoming a mental health provider has always felt deeply personal. I’ve seen the effects of anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, addiction, and ADHD up close through family and friends. I didn’t just learn about psychiatry in classrooms or from textbooks; I learned from real people and real stories. I lived it. I’ve witnessed both the pain and the resilience that come with mental illness. That perspective drives me to make a difference, and it shapes how I care for patients.
WHAT ARE A FEW OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS?
Before I became a registered nurse, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The University of the Arts as a dance major. I will always be a huge supporter of the creative and performing arts. I love all types of music and enjoy going to concerts. I am also a huge animal lover, and had all kinds of pets throughout my life and can’t imagine a home without a furry friend around. My favorite color is orange and my favorite place to vacation is Hawaii.
